Chi Psi: A Story Worth Telling...

The Lodge of Alpha Zeta Delta of Chi Psi at 912 South Second Street in Champaign was sold and subsequently demolished in early 1994. The proceeds of the sale of the old Lodge were given to the Alpha Zeta Delta of Chi Psi Educational Foundation to protect against high capital gains taxes and to provide a corpus for funding scholarships and other educational programs and initiatives to benefit the members of the Alpha. Thanks in part to the Foundation's scholarships and grants, the Alpha has since recovered and is emerging as a force on campus. We had planned to begin efforts to buy a permanent Lodge in 2003 or 2004 but were forced to accelerate our efforts when we received notice in December 2001 that our lease on the property at 311 E. Armory in Champaign would end in July 2002. After several months of hard work, we are now located at 110 East Armory in Champaign and have a contract to buy the Lodge in December 2004. A capital fundraising campaign, managed by Gilchrist Alumni Management Associates is underway to make the purchase possible.
