Spring 1999 Meeting - Saturday, April 24, 1999

Attendance

Brothers Fouts, Minni, McElwee, Schallmo, McFarlin, Doser, Scott, O'Neill,
Stevens, Mason, Prester, Hess, Petrie, and Way.

Dispensed with the reading of previous meeting minutes.

Comittee Reports

Alpha Report

Alpha is in good shape.  We will have 23 brothers on campus in the fall of
1999.  The undergraduate brotherhood is confident about Rush.  Finances are
in good shape.  The undergraduate appreciate all the help they have been
given and express desire to have even more alumni participate in events.

Recruitment

The Buell scholarship has 36 applicants already, much more than last year.
Interviews will be in two locations this year, Olympia Fields and Elk Grove
Village.  The alumni will greet this year and the undergraduates will do the
intitial interview.  30 finalists will then be interviewed on campus by the
alumni to determine the winner.  The change is to help facilitate Rush.  June
19 and 26 are the interview dates for the undergraduates (and alumni
greeters).  May 23 is the closing date for applicants.  We will attempt to
get S. Anderson or D. Romoser to be the featured speaker.  A recruitment
commitee was formed, chaired by Randy Mason and assisted by Kevin O'Neill.
July 24 will be an alumni/active softball game and picnic.  Rushees to be
invited.  The event will be held in Park Ridge or nearby and organized by
Kevin O'Neill.

Finance

No report submitted.  The corporation will need a new #4 in the fall, Brother
Riehs is stepping down.  Only item is that Tim's rent for April is still
outstanding.

Property

The fire inspection was passed.  Something needs to be done with O'Neills
door.  We have 13 contracts with 2.5 pending.  The corporation reviewed the
covenant for purchasing a new Lodge.  The stairway and the hallway need
repairs.  A commitee was formed by Brothers Way, Schallmo, Stevens and Hess
to address the problem of why more brothers are not living in.  A meeting was
held on Sunday morning (the 25th), attended by most of the undergraduate
Brotherhood as well as Mason and Schallmo.  A report will be forthcoming at
the next Corporation meeting.

Risk Management

The Board reviewed the events of Alpha Rho and discussed it's importance.

Events

No report submitted.  As previously mentioned Brother O'Neill will organize
the softball/picnic event for the 24th of July.  Chi Psi reunion is set for
the 25th of September and Homecoming is October 16.

Communications

A new issue of the Parthenon is in the works and should be mailed very soon.
The board will need a new #3 as Brother Schallmo will be stepping down.
Brother Fouts helped work on the web page and it looks great.

Nominations

All nominations should be forwarded to Brother Way.  The election will be
held at the next Corporation meeting on September 25.

Old Business

None.

New Business

Brother Hess made known that the undergraduate need new robes as the old are
in a very worn state.  A motion was made by Brother Hess that $1000 that was
budgeted for repairs the previous summer and was not spent be used for new
robes.  An amendment was made to the motion that it can be spent unless other
property damages are forthcoming and the funds are needed for that.  The
amendment passed as well as the motion.
